Audi’s second-generation Q5 SUV
From Audi this week a new second generation Q5 premium SUV, the first generation Q5 launched in 2009 a highly popular model but sales slowed this year as it was hampered by a lack of run-out stock. The latest Audi Q5 arrives in a six-model petrol and diesel range priced from the 2.0-litre TDi Q5 design at 65,900, running up to the flagship 3.0-litre turbo V6 TFSi SQ5 at $99,611. Now lighter by as much as 90 kilos Audi claim the new Q5 handles and rides better and is more fuel efficient. The latter due to a new sophisticated Quattro ultra all-wheel drive system – a new drive select program allowing auto, dynamic and off-road settings to be selected. Interestingly, Audi have changed its SQ5 flagship from diesel power to the 260kW 3.0-litre turbo petrol engine used in the S4 sedan and S5 coupe – the price has risen by nearly $7,000 although Audi claim it has $16,000 in additional equipment.
