Aboriginal elder calls for ‘unity’ as Welcome to Country debate rages on
An Aboriginal elder who conducts Welcome to Country ceremonies has called for common ground as debate continues to rage on.
Managing director of Tribal Experiences Shannon Ruska told Gary Hardgrave the ceremonies have been around since the beginning of time and were originally intended to welcome other tribes.
“A common word, I think, is unity, and that’s what we need to find here in Australia, is the unity,” he said.
