“107 people won’t see Christmas”: The grim reality unveiled in the heart of Brisbane

During Queensland Road Safety Week, Jason Matthews on 4BC Breakfast and RACQ’s Dr. Michael Kane discussed a sobering campaign featuring 107 life-sized silhouettes in King George Square, representing the 77 men, 25 women, and 5 children projected to die on state roads before Christmas based on 5-year trend data.

With road deaths already up 12% this year at 194 fatalities, the forward-looking initiative – supported by partners including trauma surgeons who revealed 27 serious hospitalisations occur for every fatality – urges drivers to avoid speeding, distractions, and impairment to save lives.
