The Prime Minister has signed off on a $7 billion 2032 Games funding deal with the Premier.

After months of disagreement, a deal to jointly fund the construction and revamp of major venues has been struck.

In a joint press conference held this morning, the details on who will fund Brisbane facilities were released.

It will include a $2.7 billion revamp of the Gabba, while Brisbane Arena, a 17,000-seat stadium, will be built in the CBD.

Annastacia Palaszczuk claimed the International Olympic Committee were “so impressed” with Brisbane.

“They said you can almost hold the games tomorrow,” she said.

Speaking with 4BC Breakfast this morning, Anthony Albanese wouldn’t be drawn into giving details on the arrangement.

Mark Hine: “The Gabba is being rebuilt. Is that confirmed? Because there’s been a lot of speculation on the future of the Gabba and its part to play in the Games.”

Anthony Albanese: “Oh, we’ll be making all the final announcements in just a very short period of time.”
