Pharmacists resort to switching phones off as RAT supplies run dry

Pharmacists report they’ve been forced to take their phones off the hook as demand for rapid antigen tests continue.
Stores are reportedly fielding hundreds of calls a day from customers searching for stock.
It comes as pensioners, veterans and low income earners are now eligible to claim up to 10 free rapid COVID-19 tests.
The Queensland Branch President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Chris Owen, told Neil Breen stock isn’t guaranteed for concession card holders.
“We’re getting hundreds upon hundreds of phone calls every day.
“Pharmacists have taken the measure of having an automated answering service … or we’re [at] the point of having to turn the phones off.
“In my store, I haven’t had a delivery since December 28.”
