The controversial Saudi-backed LIV Tour has teed off at the Centurion Club outside London.

All players competing in the rebel tour have been suspended from the US PGA Tour indefinitely.

These 17 golfers include Dustin Johnson, Sergio Carcia and Phil Mickelson.

3AW The Twilight Zone host and former golfer Mark Allen told Neil Breen the PGA couldn’t compete with the lure of money with the LIV Tour.

“Tiger Woods was offered $800 million USD to play four events,” Mark said.

“All these beautiful, collegiate players, quite often they have to go and cut their teeth somewhere.

“Greg Norman’s been hitting some of these guys off and he’s making it possible for them to finish last in eight events and walk away with $7 million.”
