Peter Dutton has accused the federal government of politicising a settlement with former Liberal staffer Rachelle Miller.

The Commonwealth reached a $650,000 settlement with Ms Miller after she alleged abuse by her former boss and then-minister Alan Tudge.

Ms Miller claimed she was subject to bullying, harassment and discrimination while working for Mr Tudge and Michaelia Cash.

Both MPs have denied any wrongdoing, and the settlement notes the hefty sum is not an admission of liability or fault by the Commonwealth.

Mr Dutton this morning revealed he believes the federal government intentionally excluded a non-disclosure clause in the settlement.

“Obviously they’ve done it for political reasons, … so they can air it again,” he told Ray Hadley.

“This will have been a brief signed off on by the new [Special Minister of State].”

But Mr Dutton would not be drawn into any further comments in relation to Ms Miller’s allegations.

“My view is that this matter is now finalised and people should be allowed to get on with their lives.

“The matter’s been settled, the government’s signed off on it.”
