‘People being idiots’: The worrying trend in this year’s road toll

Queensland is on track to record one of its most lethal years on the roads with eight lives lost this week alone.

The road toll is already larger than this time last year despite 2021’s numbers holding the record high.

Acting Chief Superintendent Ray Rohweder told Neil Breen most deaths have been a result of excessive speed.

“I’m not talking about small speeds, either,” he said. “I think just people being idiots, people being selfish.”
