The Palaszczuk government is being accused of showing ‘favouritism’ for ‘Labor mates’.

Ipswich City Council last year approved a recycling facility while rejecting its landfill component.

The project manager, former Brisbane lord mayor Jim Soorley, approached the government for help.

“In the ensuing days after the Ipswich Council said no, Steven Miles the Deputy Premier, was lobbied by Anacta, Jim Soorley was making phone calls and the state government … approved the dump,” Neil Breen said.

Senior Nine News reporter Tim Arvier told Neil Breen the Labor Party has denied suggestions of favouritism.

“The government says that’s not the case and this is just the way that both parties do business.”
