Nominees at this year’s Academy Awards are set to receive one square metre of outback Queensland in their gift bags. 

Pieces of Australia is one of a raft of brands to pay $4000 to secure a spot in the hamper sent to acting and directing nominees.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Laurel, Gary & Mark amongst the vouchers for plastic surgery and liposuction, the recipients will be gifted a title for a piece of land in Queensland.

“It’s a very clever marketing move from this crowd,” he said. “You can’t even go visit it, let alone build on it, so you’ll never see it.”
