John Coates will next year step down as President of the Australian Olympic Committee, with a number of high-profile names vying for the top job.

This year’s Chef de Mission of the Tokyo Olympic Games Ian Chesterman has thrown his hat in the ring.

Olympic medallist Mark Stockwell has also put up his hand.

“First of all I am very passionate about the Olympic movement and the Australian Olympic organisation I have been a part of it since 1984 so it’s something that I am passionate about,” he told Scott Emerson.

He said he believed he was well-equipped given his business career and time in sports administration.

In his view, it’s time to re-imagine high-performance sport.
