As the 2023 NRLW season kicks off this weekend, the inclusion of new teams marks a step forward for women’s rugby league.

There has been four teams added to the NRLW competition, including of North Queensland Cowboys, West Tigers, Canberra Raiders, and Cronulla Sharks.

NRLW Brisbane Broncos Coach, Scott Prince, told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports, “It’s exciting for the game, the women’s game is trying to keep up with influx of young girls that want to play our game.”

“Its really important to introduce new teams, it gives one of those girls in that area, or from a far an opportunity to play NRLW,” Mr. Prince continued.
