NRL hands down sanction on Raiders coach Ricky Stuart

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart will be suspended from his coaching duties for a week and fined $25,000 for an extraordinary tirade in a post-match press conference on Saturday night.
The NRL announced this afternoon it was taking the “significant step” of suspending the Canberra coach for one match over his comments directed at Penrith Panthers Player Jaeman Salmon.
CEO Andrew Abdo said the comments were “completely unacceptable”.
“This is a highly unusual case, and we have taken the significant step of proposing a suspension from his duties for one week,” he said in a statement.
“This will be a full suspension precluding Ricky from having any involvement with any club activity either in person or remotely. Furthermore, the fine must not be paid by the club but by Ricky himself.”
