Noosa councillor in hot water over bizarre Bachelorette appearance

A Noosa councillor is in strife for appearing on The Bachelorette without the council’s approval.

37-year-old Jess Glasgow appeared on Channel 10’s reality dating show last night, where he carried in a throne and dressed in red robes.

He referred to himself on the show as “a local councillor, so one below the mayor”.

Noosa Council has now referred him to the office of the Independent Assessor for allegedly breaching the code of conduct after the mayor claimed he wasn’t informed of Mr Glasgow’s appearance on the show.

Mayor Tony Wellington tells Ben Fordham Mr Glasgow conflated his role on the council and made himself out to be more important than he is.

“It was difficult to watch and I was somewhat shocked.

“It requires a certain amount of naivety to be on these programs because basically one doesn’t have control of the way one is portrayed.”

Although it seems Mr Glasgow’s odd behaviour on the show wasn’t entirely out of character.

Ben Fordham: “Has he always been a bit of a strange cat?”

Tony Wellington: “He is one of our more unusual councillors, I’ll put it that way.”
