‘Nobody in the world can tell us!’: Breenie slams state’s ‘disaster’ budgeting

Neil Breen has torn into the state government as major projects’ cost overrun surpasses a $1 billion price tag.
The 2022-23 Queensland Budget is due to be tabled in parliament later this month and Breenie’s warning it won’t be pretty.
A spokesperson for Treasurer Cameron Dick has ruled out slugging Queenslanders more to cope with the debt, leaving a major question mark over how the state plans to fund major projects.
“Where is the money going to come from?” Breenie asked. “We’re already in debt to the tune of $110- to $130 billion. That’s just Queensland.
“All of this is highly interesting for a state government that’s got no money and has to spend money on health.
“No one can tell us where the money’s coming from for that. Nobody in the world can tell us.”
