The latest data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that employment rates within tourism are now higher than pre-pandemic levels.

Lyndon Discombe, the General Manager of Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, based in Brisbane’s western suburbs, hasn’t had the same experience.

“For us, it’s a different situation. We are definitely not at pre-pandemic employment rates,” he said.

“We probably won’t be for the foreseeable future until the international borders are back running.”

Mr Discombe told Scott Emerson, host of 4BC Drive, that it hadn’t been as busy over the recent months.

“Over the school holidays, the numbers we received are far less than what we would’ve anticipated on a normal, even pandemic year.”
