Neil Breen has read out a letter from an anonymous primary school teacher frustrated by overcrowding in the curriculum, after a decision to change the dates in the schooling year again.

The state government announced the schooling year won’t be extended, despite the start of term being pushed back by two weeks as Queensland hits the predicted peak of COVID-19 cases.

The teacher, who did not want to be named, said the curriculum was “already crowded”.

The teacher suggested there should have been another week added to Term 1, not Term 4 as initially proposed.

“There’s so much to cover, and so much assessment, no time to properly make sure students have absorbed the content,” the letter read.

“No time to review the work done, it’s awful.”
