Neil Breen: Albanese government staying quiet on Olympics funding pledge

Neil Breen has questioned the planning and funding arrangements ahead of the Brisbane Games, with Anthony Albanese so far failing to honour a pledge made by the former Morrison government to jointly fund infrastructure.
In April 2021, Scott Morrison agreed to cover half the costs of the 2032 Games, before Brisbane won the rights.
But, Neil says, it appears the new Labor government isn’t on board.
“I have been saying it since day one, this federal government hasn’t committed anything to this Olympics and in actual fact I don’t think federal Labor likes the idea of the Olympics at all,” he said.
“Particularly at this point in time, where cost-of-living is through the roof, there’s hospital crises all over the place and all of a sudden we are going to be funding this Olympics.
“Finally the Prime Minister has gone on the record and he has told Queensland I am not there, I am not there for the 50-50.”
