Nearly half of all Queenslanders targeted by scammers in the last few days

Queenslanders are being urged to be extra vigilant when it comes to scams.
According to RACQ Bank research, 43 per cent of Queenslanders have been contacted by a scammer in the past few days alone.
Senior financial crimes analyst Erin Short says those aged over 75 are more vulnerable but younger people are being caught out too.
“They sometimes have [interactive voice response] set up to particularly target certain age groups, however younger generations who might think they are aware or digitally savvy are still getting scammed on a daily basis.”
According to the research, most scammers have contacted people by phone, followed by email, then SMS.
She said remote access was also a popular hacking technique.
