A motorcyclist has been killed after hitting a kangaroo on a major Sydney motorway.

Emergency services were called to Sydney’s western suburbs at about 1.20am.

They found a motorbike rider critically injured in the westbound lanes. It’s believed he was pushed into the centre railing following impact.

By-standers and police administered first aid, but he died at the scene.

The body of a dead kangaroo was found nearby.

Elsewhere, a motorcyclist has suffered minor injuries after swerving to miss a fox in the Illawarra region.

An oncoming car then hit the bike on the Princes Highway at Gerringong, sparking a fire.

The motorcyclist escaped without serious injury.
