Morrison government slammed for $30 billion Inland Rail cost blowout
Another project off the rails, Federal Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Catherine King blames previous Coalition government for the Inland Rail’s major cost bungle.
The independent review by former Commonwealth Energy Advisor Dr Kerry Schott released yesterday, revealed that the Inland Rail megaproject has blown up to nearly double it’s size to $30 billion.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Catherine King, joined Bill McDonald on Brisbane Live and pointed the finger at the Morrison government’s handling of the plan.
Minister King told Bill McDonald, “the National Party should never have their hands on the til of these sort of projects ever again”.
“I’ve got a mess to clean up here” and “we’ve got a bit of work to do to get this back on track”, Minister King said.

On the other hand, this is welcome news for Logan Mayor Darren Power who says it’s a big win for Logan residents.
The Mayor has been fighting the megaproject for years to prevent the project from going through his city, which would have displaced thousands.
