Monster-sized cane toad found in Qld dubbed ‘Toadzilla’
A cane toad so big it’s been named ‘Toadzilla’ has been found in Queensland.
The monster-sized amphibian weighed in at a whopping three kilograms, which is not only almost as much as a brick, but could be a new record for cane toads.
It was spotted by rangers in Conway National Park, near Airlie Beach.
Queensland Department of Environment and Science ranger Barry Noland saw Toadzilla in the flesh when it was brought back to the office.
“They didn’t let us know that they were bringing it back and they put it on the floor,” he said.
“When we first saw it, we actually thought it was an oversized statue of a cane toad they had found… until it hopped!”
