Former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor has been found guilty of murdering Australian woman Justine Ruszczyk Damond.

The jury found Noor guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter over her shooting death.

He was acquitted of one charge of second-degree intentional murder.

40-year-old Ms Damond Ruszczyk, a dual citizen of Australia and the US, called 911 about a possible sexual assault near her home in July 2017.

Noor shot her when she approached his police car, testifying he became fearful when he heard a loud bang and saw a woman with her arms raised.

A jury of 10 men and two women deliberated for about 11 hours before finding the shooting was not justified under the circumstances.

He’s due to be sentenced on June 7.
