Miss Universe Australia is disappointed that the swimsuit section has been scrapped from Miss America moving forward.

Adelaide’s Olivia Rogers competed in the Las Vegas competition last year and said not once did she feel objectified by either the judges or the contestants.

She tells Ben Fordham,

“I absolutely love this aspect, I think it’s an awesome opportunity to show that you can be intelligent and confident and beautiful and rock a bikini and not be sexualised.”

Olivia put a poll on her Instagram account today after hearing the decision and says it came back 50- 50.

Personally, she’s “quite surprised” and disappointed.

“It’s not like a fitness competition, they’re not judging every part of your physique, you know, whether or not your boobs are big enough.

“It’s looking at the girl as a whole, and how you carry yourself, showing how confident you are, and that you’re happy in your own skin.”

The new Miss America will also focus more on showcasing all shapes and sizes in its new look competition in September.
