Minister calls on Russia to surrender three men guilty of downing MH17

Australia is calling on Russia to surrender three men convicted of shooting down Malaysia Airlines flight MH-17 over Ukraine.
A Dutch court has ruled that a Russian-made missile. supplied by Russia and fired by an armed group under Russian control brought down the flight.
The men, two Russians and one Ukrainian, were found guilty in absentia and sentenced to life in jail. A third Russian man was acquitted.
Almost 300 people, including 38 Australians, were killed when the passenger jet was shot down in 2014.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong said the Kremlin, which has always denied any involvement, needs to take responsibility.
“We call on Russia to surrender those convicted so they may face the court sentence for their heinous crime,” she said.
I welcome the Hague District Court’s verdict, finding three men guilty of murder over the downing of MH17.
My thoughts are with those who lost their lives and their loved ones.
They have suffered unfathomable grief and waited a long time for any form of justice.
