Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey has choked back tears in a speech calling for gun control at The White House.

He has met with the US President, pushing for more congressional action on gun violence.

McConaughey has spoken at a briefing at the White House about travelling to his hometown of Uvalde after the tragic mass shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers.

He told how 10 year old Maite Rodriguez could only be identified by her favourite green Converse.
