Young father dead, woman in critical condition after caravan fire

4BC News

A young father has died and a woman is suffering critical burns after a caravan went up in flames in Logan overnight.

Emergency services were called to an address at Logan Central around 11pm to find the caravan well alight.

It’s believed the battery of an e-scooter started the blaze.

Paramedics say the pair required significant resuscitation and were transferred to the RBWH with critical burn injuries.

Nine News reporter Peter Fegan told Sofie Formica the man’s father has returned to the scene, “just after turning his son’s machine off”.

“The father has literally just arrived, he’s come straight to us, he wanted to embrace us and tell the story and put out a warning for other people.

“It’s just awfully sad. We did have two in hospital fighting for life, unfortunately now, a young man in his 20s, a young father with another baby on the way, has passed away.”
