A man will face court today, accused of attempting to kidnap a woman on the Gold Coast. 

The 34-year-old woman was walking along the beach at Kirra early yesterday morning when the 20-year-old man allegedly attempted to grab her.

Police say she resisted and sustained a six centimetre cut on her left forearm.

The man allegedly fled the scene, but was later located on the beachfront at Coolangatta.

The woman was transported to Robina Hospital for treatment.

The man has been charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted kidnapping, one count of wounding and possession of a knife in a public place.

He’s due to face the Southport Magistrates Court today.
