A man will front court today, charged with attempted murder after he allegedly choked a woman in Gladstone. 

Police allege around 4.15am, the man began to force entry to the back door of a Brendonna Road residence in Burua.

A 57-year-old woman, who is known to the man, fled through the front door.

It’s alleged he chased her down in his vehicle, repeatedly punched her in the face, and choked her until she lost consciousness.

Police say he then fled the area.

The woman is receiving treatment at Gladstone Hospital.

The man has been charged with four domestic violence offences including attempted murder and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He will appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court today.
