Veteran broadcaster John Laws is being celebrated after 70 years on air.

The radio announcer known as the ‘Golden Tonsils’ joined Murray Wilton and Murray Olds to reflect on seven decades of his career.

Laws first opened the microphone at Radio 3BO in Bendigo, and has worked for radio stations including 2UE, 2GB, 2SM.

The 88-year-old broadcaster told The Two Murrays he wasn’t aware of the milestone until today.

“Jesus, a lot of people don’t live that long!” he said.

“I just love to mix with people and have fun.
