The Lord Mayor is hopeful the Mud Army can hit the streets sooner to begin the major flood cleanup.

The coordinated effort organised by the Brisbane City Council is currently planned to kick off from tomorrow afternoon.

But Adrian Schrinner says he hopes the state government lifts its stay-at-home advice so cleaning efforts can get underway.

“We’re keen to get out as soon as this stay-at-home advice is lifted,” he said.

“But the key thing is if you look at the BOM advice and warning, the word ‘life-threatening’ was used.

“How do you respond to something that says life-threatening storms or life-threatening flooding?”
