Locked out: Stories of stranded Queenslanders laid bare in new book

A new book compiles some of the lived experiences of Queenslanders locked out of the state during last year’s lockdown period.
Meredith Llewellyn witnessed it firsthand, living across the border in Pottsville in NSW.
She spoke to Neil Breen about her new book, Locked Out.
“For many Queenslanders, that border closure in July, they didn’t get home until December because the doorway home was hotel quarantine and two weeks isolation and fly in.
“They didn’t have the money at that stage.”
But the book also explores how communities across the border rallied together in those months in limbo.
She said the strength of the story and the book is how “humanity cares for humanity”.
