Liberals tip national security to be ‘big’ focus ahead of election day

The federal government is betting on Australians focusing on the economy and security as the election draws near.
The latest Newspoll shows Labor has a 10-point lead over the Coalition after preferences.
It comes after a the government experienced a rocky week in parliament, rocked by instability in its own ranks.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg told Neil Breen he won’t be distracted by the noise.
“The Australian people have obviously been frustrated by the two years of COVID,” he said.
“But at the same time, as we get closer to election day, people will focus on the big things that matter: the vaccination rate, which is one of the highest in the world; the economic recovery, which is one of the strongest in the world; and our national security.
“We’re focusing on the big things that matter and hopefully that’s what will come into greater attention.”
