Liberal MP Alan Tudge quits politics
Liberal MP Alan Tudge has announced he is quitting politics, citing health and family reasons.
The embattled MP has not been sitting in parliament this week but returned to Canberra today.
He says the death of his father cemented his decision to stand aside, as of next week.
“It’s not been an easy decision for me,” he said.
“But it is necessary for my health and for my family, amongst other reasons.
His daughters, aged 16 and 18, know “nothing ever than their dad being away”.

In recent years, he’s been embroiled in political scandals, including accusations of emotional abuse.
Mr Tudge denies the claims and has been cleared by two inquiries.
4BC political editor Michael Pachi told Sofie Formica the move would spark a by-election in his outer-eastern Melbourne seat, which he currently holds by just under three per cent.
