One of the country’s top lawyers is due to provide legal advice to the Prime Minister today over Scott Morrison’s portfolio scandal. 

The Solicitor General is preparing to deliver his advice over whether Mr Morrison broke any laws by giving himself a suite of secret powers.

The former prime minister took on five extra ministerial portfolios during his time in power, without telling many of his colleagues.

Mr Morrison argue the secrecy was necessary so as not to undermine his ministers.

His successor, Anthony Albanese is considering a further inquiry or broader reforms to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
