A Brisbane man caught up in the Latitude Financial data breach has narrowly avoided having a loan falsely taken out in his name.

Greg from Bracken Ridge, who was a customer with the financial services company “many, many years ago”, last night received an email about a loan application.

“They’ve submitted an application form in, it’s gone into Latitude, they’ve looked at it, they’ve assessed it and now, they’ve sent me an email back, saying to move forward on this, I need to set up a log-in account,” he told Sofie Formica.

“You would think if I applied for a loan, they would at least have the commonsense to ring me and say, ‘Greg, look, you were part of the data breach, have you applied for a loan?’

“It’s just crazy, it’s terrible.”
