LATEST | Restrictions tightened on Gold Coast as Queensland records new COVID case

Coronavirus restrictions will be tightened on the Gold Coast after two cases were detected in the state overnight.
Just one is recorded in Queensland’s numbers: a Biggera Waters man linked to the aviation worker detected yesterday.
However, a truck driver who will be recorded in NSW’s numbers was infectious on the Gold Coast from September 25-27.
Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young urged Gold Coast residents to keep an eye on the contact tracing list, as the truckie visited a number of suburbs.
In response, mask restrictions reintroduced to Brisbane and Moreton Bay yesterday will be extended to the Gold Coast.
This means when out of home, people must wear masks while indoors (unless eating or drinking) and outside when social distancing isn’t possible.
Visits to aged care and disability facilities, hospitals and prisons will be suspended for anyone who has been on the Gold Coast in the last 14 days.
