Two miners missing after a ground collapse at a mine in Far North Queensland have been confirmed dead.

33-year-old Dylan Langridge and 36-year=old Trevor Davis were in a ute at the Dugald River Mine yesterday morning, when it fell 15 metres into a void.

Rescue crews have spent the last day and a half trying to get to them, but sadly the pair did not survive.

The company which runs the mine, Perenti, confirmed the tragic news.

“This is a devastating outcome and I want to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the families, friends, colleagues and loved ones of Trevor and Dylan, both of whom should have come home safely from work yesterday,” Perenti CEO Mark Norwell said.
