Federal Labor has released the climate policy it will take to the federal election, claiming it’ll create more than 600-thousand jobs.

The Opposition believes it can reduce carbon emissions by 43 per cent by 2030.

Labor MP for Moreton, Graham Perrett, said it was a “fair dinkum plan” to create more jobs, lower power bills and lower emissions.

“The main thing about this is that we’ve gone off incredible modelling, detailed modelling,” he told Scott Emerson.

“Like the government, we want net zero by 2050, so we worked backwards from that.”

In response, LNP member for Ryan, Julian Simmonds, criticised the timing of their announcement during 4BC Drive’s Question Time debate.

“It says everything to people that they released it on a Friday, weeks after Glasgow, after the parliament has risen, so f you don’t want scrutiny on policy, now is the day to release it.”
