Labor dismisses PM’s ‘fear for polarised Australia’ under Greens-Labor coalition
Tanya Plibersek has hit back at Scott Morrison’s comments that he “fears for a growing polarisation between the regions and cities” if Labor and the Greens are elected.
Speaking in Rockhampton today, Mr Morrison said he fears for the regions under a Greens-Labor coalition.
But Labor’s Shadow Minister for Women and Education says his comments were a “joke”.
Ms Plibersek says Anthony Albanese has made it clear that Labor is not interested in a coalition with the Greens.
“I can tell you from my perspective the threat to me in my seat is the Greens and there is a reason I don’t support the Greens it’s because they don’t support jobs,” she told Bill McDonald, filling in on 4BC Drive.
“Of course we support our mining industry in Australia, it’s been the basis of a lot of our prosperity over decades, and it will be into the future.
“We don’t have to choose between having a strong mining industry and making the most of the incredible opportunity for renewable energy opportunities.”
