Northern Territory nurse lifts lid on Australia’s shame in Alice Springs
GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING
A Northern Territory nurse has shared harrowing details about Australia’s shame unfolding at Alice Springs, including truly horrific claims about sexual violence within some Indigenous families.
4BC has chosen not to publish some of the details, due to the confronting nature of the content, however they are mentioned in the interview with Nine Radio.
It comes as the Prime Minister fields another wave of criticism over the crisis, this time for spending more time at the Australian Open than he did in Alice Springs.
“Can I be honest, I don’t think the problem is him being at the tennis,” Bill McDonald said. “If he wasn’t there, people would be up in arms because he’s not supporting, he’s absent.
“The problem is if he doesn’t address the outcry from locals saying he didn’t see the real issues and that he didn’t spend enough time there.
“If he doesn’t do anything next, well then we’ve got good reason to be up in arms. He’s got to go back, he’s got to walk around the streets, spend a bit of time there.”
