Rugby league legend Johnathan Thurston has given an insight into grand final week and how he dealt with the pressure.

The two-time premiership player counts himself lucky he was able to win a grand final early in his career.

“The most important thing is the way that they prepare, it’s going to be a cracking game, so many storylines from both clubs if they win it, I can’t wait to be sitting on the sidelines and calling it,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

He said the week leading up to grand final can be tough with so many distractions, but it’s important players stick to their routine and try and stay focussed.

“Because it’s probably the biggest game of your life, you think you have to do more than what got you there, which is not the case.”
