John Emburey disappointed in England’s inability to convert starts

John Emburey is disappointed in the English players lack of discipline this series in being able to go on and score big hundreds after a number of starts in their first innings in Sydney.

“I look at the England scores – 23, 24, 39, 33 – six score between 24 and 39. Then you have the 63 and 83 and it’s just not good enough.”

England have only had three century makers in this series to Australia’s seven and Emburey thinks it has been the difference in the series.

Joe Root still hasn’t scored a century this series, throwing one away late on Day 1 – with Emburey believing the English players need to be more disciplined.

“The Australian batsman against the English bowlers are finding it much easier than the English are against the Australian bowlers.”
