Job creation a missed opportunity amid climate inaction, Labor says

Labor says the federal government has struggled to champion new technology and create jobs in the climate space.

Australia is under international pressure to agree to net-zero emissions by 2050.

The government argues it’s already investing in technology to help meet and beat the target.

But the Opposition’s Murray Watt has told Neil Breen, there have also been missed opportunities.

“We’ve seen other countries jump ahead of us when it comes to creating jobs on the back of climate change action.

“We’re sitting on a gold mine of solar resources, wind resources, we’re developing expertise in hydrogen, all of these things are starting to happen in Queensland.

“You’ve got the Queensland Nationals and some of the Liberals now joining them as well, saying they don’t want a bar of it.”
