‘It’s horrendous’: Mayor of Ipswich demands action on foul smell
The Mayor of Ipswich is demanding action on a bad smell which has plagued the city for 10 years, with fears that the stench could be impacting the health of residents.
There have already been 16,000 complaints since 2018 when an odour abatement taskforce was set up by the state government.
It comes as the City of Ipswich last week adopted a resolution for Queensland Health to hold a public health inquiry “into the stench”.
“They need to know if this is going to have any long-term health impacts on people,” Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding told Scott Emerson on 4BC Drive.
