Michael McLaren is not one to say “I told you so”, but his warnings of irresponsible government spending and consecutive deficits have come to roost.

The Afternoons host has taken a close look at the current state of France, drawing comparisons to Australia and has also questioned whether the next generation is aware of the looming turmoil they face as they demand even more spending.

“Maybe it’s time we take a leaf out of the French playbook and hit the streets – not to demand even more welfare, but exactly the opposite,” he said.
