Mark McGowan has just announced that this will be his final week as the Premier of Western Australia.

In a press conference this afternoon, the WA Premier announced his resignation after being in the role for the better part of six years.

In his announcement, Mr McGowan said, “The role of political leadership doesn’t stop, it’s relentless… and combined with the COVID years, it’s taken it out of me.”

“I just don’t have the energy or drive that’s required to continue in the role of Premier”, Mr McGowan went on to say.

Neil Breen said on 4BC Brisbane Live, “if you think back to who was in National Cabinet during the deep, dark COVID times, only two people are left standing – Annastacia Palaszczuk and Dan Andrews – the rest of them, goneski”.
