Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will benefit different suburbs in various south-east Queensland markets, the REIQ chair says.

Peter Brewer spoke to Greg Cary, filling in on 4BC Afternoons, about how the chatter around the market including “doom and gloom” predictions for borrowers plays a part in the industry.

Suburbs have their own “nuances” impacted by a number of factors, he said.

“If I take a more macro view, what is the Olympics going to do for south-east Queensland real estate? I think there will be pockets of those of south-east Queensland that will do really nicely from the infrastructure that occurs, for the jobs, for the people coming into our country.

“I think we are starting to see it now … we are starting to see speculation and people starting to say that’s the place to put a few dollars, if we are talking long-term.”
