Hospitality industry reacts to slow ‘return to normal’ as COVID contact rules ease

Queensland’s close contact rules will be relaxed from next week, in line with the southern states, after campaigning from business and hospitality groups.

It means the 7 day quarantine rules for close contacts will be scrapped.

The Caxton Hotel’s Ross Farquhar says it’s great news.

“Particularly the pub game, it’s been hard to get staff or keep staff,” he told Jason Dasey, filling in on 4BC Drive.

He says it’s getting “closer to normal than it has been for a long time”.

He says they noticed it the most among security personnel.
