Heartbreaking story of stranded Queenslanders facing 8-week long wait to get home

A Queensland couple has been shut out of the Sunshine State for four months in regional NSW after visiting their dying grandfather.
Their concerned daughter, Ashley Giblin, shared their story on 4BC.
Her parents Nolan and Diane are in a rural town in Timor, visiting her grandfather who was battling cancer.
In July, her parents got a call to say he had days to live.
“Mum and dad had the decision to other risk going down or stay and not say good bye to their father, so they went down. At that time, the borders were open.”
She described their living situation as “absolutely crap”.
They have been living in a caravan over the back paddock near her grandfather’s house.
She said it was very tough.
“I get phone calls from them daily, them breaking down in tears just wanting to come home.”
They will now have to wait weeks to drive back home, until Queensland reaches the 80 per cent double dose target.
